Transport at CMS Summer School

Limited oval parking

Due to recent changes out of our control, we will only be able to use two thirds of the oval at Summer School for parking. Please consider making alternate arrangements for transport to and from the CMS Summer School site.

Free bus services

To avoid congestion, delays and missing out on a parking spot, we recommend using our free bus services.

There are two bus services running each morning:

Katoomba High School:

  • Park at Katoomba High School, Martin Street and take the bus straight to Summer School.
  • Buses leave at frequent intervals between 8.15am and 9.00am.
  • After the morning sessions, buses depart from Violet Street between 12.35pm and 12.50pm and return to the school.

Katoomba Street:

  • Catch the bus at a convenient location along Katoomba Street in the mornings.
  • Katoomba Youth Hostel (YHA) – 8.15am
  • Three Sisters Hotel – 8.15am
  • Top of Katoomba Street (the Savoy Hotel) – 8.30am
  • Buses return to Katoomba Street following the morning sessions each day, departing from Violet Street at 12.35pm sharp.
Limited mobility parking

The site for limited mobility parking will be announced shortly. A shuttle bus will operate to and from this site before and after the morning and evening session. Please note, the shuttle will not operate after the supper session each evening. Please assist us by displaying your mobility scheme pass on the inside of your windscreen.

There are volunteer medicos at Summer School, but they are only on hand to provide initial assessments in the event of a medical emergency during the main sessions.

If you need first aid please seek assistance from the St John Ambulance officers stationed outside the Auditorium. If you have medical needs outside of the session times, please go directly to a local medical centre or the Blue Mountains Hospital.

St John Ambulance

We’re delighted that St John Ambulance officers will be attending Summer School again this year. St John Ambulance volunteers provide first aid and emergency assistance. They will be stationed on the plaza.

Evacuation plan

EMERGENCY: In the unlikely event of a critical incident occurring during a session, with little or no warning, you will be moved to the Auditorium until danger passes. Children and Youth will be cared for at their program venues. You will be advised of this by the chairman of your program.

EVACUATION: If a site evacuation is necessary we will have several hours notice. The Emergency Services will arrange movement to a suitable evacuation location. It is essential to pay careful attention to the information given by the chairman of your program.

Do not use your mobile phone during an evacuation.

Please note: the organisers of CMS Summer School will act early in the case of a bushfire. We will begin evacuation if the ‘Watch and Act’ category is announced for the area by the Rural Fire Service.

Postponement or cancellation
If there is a threat to the site or road closures immediately prior to or during CMS Summer School, the conference will be postponed or cancelled. You will be advised by SMS to your registered mobile phone, via Facebook or twitter and on this website. In the case of postponement, information will be available before 8.00am each day.

Information Desk
See staff at the information desk in the Auditorium if you require access to:

  • An audio loop

Youth and Children

Family Bible Study

The CMS Summer School Family Devotion is back for 2019! Inside your Summer School bag you will find a copy of the studies for your family. Both the kids and the adults will be studying the same book of the Bible. Please use the questions, which sync with the day’s passages, to talk over at lunch or dinner each day. Open the Bible, talk and pray together. Maybe this could be the start of something new for you and your family.

What if I haven’t pre-registered my children?

If you have not pre-registered your children for the Youth & Children’s program you can watch the morning sessions in the Café Tent where there is a safe play area. Children aged eight and over can watch the sessions in the Auditorium with their parents.

Important info for Youth and Children

  • Please drop off and pick up your children promptly at the times specified.
  • If your child is unwell, please do not send them to the Youth & Children’s program.
  • Please do not bring children under the age of eight into the Auditorium during the morning sessions. If you need to have your child with you in the morning, you can watch the session on video link from the Café Tent.
  • As long as children are accompanied by an adult, children of any age are welcome to attend the evening sessions throughout the week.
Notice for Preschool and Crèche parents

You may be required to attend to your child during the Bible study sessions. If your child needs you, your family number will be displayed on the screens in the Auditorium – so please familiarise yourself with the number printed on your name tag. The letter preceding your family number will indicate which program you need to go to: C for Crèche and P for Preschool.
